A virtual tour of my degree show

My apologies for the absence of a blog post on June 5, when it would normally have appeared. At that time, I was deep into preparations for the installation of my degree show, the culmination of two years' study at Oxford Brookes for a Masters in Fine Art and, more significantly, one year's art practice. That is, an art practice that spanned from the beginning of the academic year in September to the opening of the show on 12 June 2026 - which gave us the title for the show...

With the show now completed and taken down and life beginning to return to a more comfortable rhythm, this post offers those of you who were unable to visit the show a selection of my photos and videos to experience what you would have seen. This is how my work is described in the catalogue:

It is not my intention to provide a detailed commentary or explanation of individual works here - that will come with another post. For now, just take a walk with me...

THE END
Thank you for staying with it to the end and I hope you enjoyed my work. Over the summer I must collate my research materials and sketches, practice notes etc, and write a critical evaluation of the work. For this, I shall be interrogating the work with reference to the nature of the reading process, the indoctrination and compulsion to read and what deception there is in text to provide understanding and wisdom. Ultimately, I anticipate that I shall be considering the origin of meaning itself.
STOP PRESS
I shall save a more detailed rundown of what I am up to beyond the MFA in my next post. For now, I just want to draw your attention to an event in Bristol tomorrow and Saturday: Bristol Artist's Book Event. It is organised by Sarah Bodman and team at UWE and is a wonderful opportunity to view a huge range of artists' interpretation of what a book can be. It is free to enter and more details to plan your visit can be found here. You will find one of my works there, courtesy of Stroud Artists Books, of which I am a member.
